Oh For Fuck’s Sake, Another Android Zero-Day

Google finally got off their collective arses to patch a zero-day that’s been running around in the wild like a caffeinated squirrel in a datacenter. CVE-2024-32896 — remember that string of gibberish, because it’s the latest reason your shitty phone is already compromised and leaking data to God-knows-where.

46 vulnerabilities. FORTY-FUCKING-SIX. That’s not a security update, that’s a bloody confession letter. And one of them is already being actively exploited in the wild, which means some bastard somewhere is currently rooting your device while you’re busy taking selfies of your sodding avocado toast.

This particular clusterfuck lives in the Android Framework component, allowing privilege escalation. Translation: any mediocre script kiddie with a grudge can escalate from “annoying user” to “system god” faster than you can say “have you tried turning it off and on again?” It’s like giving the office intern the datacenter master keys because they brought you a lukewarm coffee.

Pixel owners get the fix first because Google loves playing favorites with their own overpriced hardware. Samsung users and the rest of you plebs have to wait for the carrier approval dance, which usually takes longer than most geological eras. The patch supposedly lands in the June 2024 security update, so if you’re still rocking Android 12 on some burner phone from 2019, tough shit — you’re digitally extinct. Go buy a new device, you cheapskate.

They also patched CVE-2024-29792 in the Arm Mali GPU driver. Apparently everything is broken. Everything is fucked. The silicon is rotting. Update your shit before I remote-wipe it out of sheer professional frustration.
