More Gemini Crap Is Coming to Google TV (Because Of Course It Is)
Alright, listen up. According to TechCrunch, Google has decided that your TV isn’t annoying enough yet, so they’re shoving more Gemini AI features into Google TV. Because what everyone watching TV really wants is an AI assistant hovering over their shoulder like a needy intern asking, “Hey, wanna summarize that?” Fucking brilliant.
The gist of it: Gemini is getting deeper into Google TV to make recommendations, answer questions about what you’re watching, and generally act like it knows better than you. Supposedly it’ll help you find shows faster, understand plots, and discover new crap to binge — all powered by Google’s all-knowing, all-seeing AI brain. Because scrolling was just too goddamn hard.
Google’s also hinting at more conversational voice interactions, smarter suggestions, and tighter integration with the rest of its ecosystem. Translation: your TV is now another data-harvesting tentacle feeding the Gemini beast. You ask for a comedy, it gives you a “thoughtful dramedy,” and you still end up rewatching the same shit you always do.
TechCrunch says this is part of Google’s broader push to jam Gemini into everything with a screen and a pulse. Phones, TVs, toasters — doesn’t matter. If it can listen to you complain, Gemini’s getting installed. Whether it actually makes Google TV better or just more bloated remains to be seen, but history says: expect more menus, more prompts, and more ways for it to misunderstand you.
In short: Google TV is getting “smarter,” which usually means slower, louder, and more convinced it knows what you want. Can’t wait for my TV to argue with me about my taste in movies. Fuck’s sake.

Now if you’ll excuse me, this reminds me of the time I just wanted to reboot a server and it helpfully suggested I “optimize my workflow” instead. I unplugged it. Problem solved. Sometimes the best AI strategy is still a hard power-off.
