Microsoft Intune April–May 2026: Yet Another Pile of “Features” I Now Have to Support
Alright, listen up. It’s time for another round of Microsoft Intune updates, and yes, I’ve read the damn thing so you don’t have to. This April–May 2026 update is Microsoft once again patting itself on the back while sysadmins everywhere quietly scream into their coffee.
First up: App Inventory. Because apparently not knowing what crap users install on their machines was a problem they only noticed now. Intune can inventory applications more cleanly across platforms, which is actually useful — but only after you spend hours explaining to management why “CoolFreeVPN.exe” showed up on half the fleet. Great, more visibility, more blame, same amount of pay. Fucking lovely.
Next: Linux SSO. Yes, Linux. Microsoft finally acknowledging that penguins exist in corporate environments and not just in neckbeard basements. Single sign-on for Linux devices is a genuinely good move, even if it arrives about ten years late and will inevitably break in “edge cases” (read: reality). Still, I’ll take fewer passwords to reset any goddamn day.
Then we get Apple ADE (Automated Device Enrollment) tweaks. More control, smoother onboarding, and fewer excuses when a Mac doesn’t enroll properly — which means guess who gets blamed now? Spoiler: it’s still me. Apple and Microsoft shaking hands while I’m stuck in the middle like a miserable protocol translator from hell.
Overall, this update is Intune continuing its slow crawl toward being actually competent across Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile. It’s progress, sure — but it also means more knobs, more dashboards, more documentation nobody reads, and more shit to fix when someone clicks the wrong thing at 4:59 PM on a Friday.

Now if you’ll excuse me, this whole thing reminds me of the time management said, “Intune will make this easier,” right before I spent an entire weekend unfucking an enrollment issue caused by a single unchecked box. Good times.
