Threads Shoves Yet Another AI Bot Into the Feed, Because Of Course It Does
Alright, listen up. It turns out Meta has decided that Threads wasn’t already enough of a half-baked Twitter clone, so now they’re testing a Meta AI integration that works a lot like Grok. Yes, that Grok. Because originality is hard and copying shit is easy.
This shiny new AI thing lives inside Threads and lets users ask questions, get summaries of conversations, and generally have a chat with a bot that pretends it knows what the hell is going on in the world. It can pull in real-time info, reference trending topics, and help you write posts — you know, in case forming your own thoughts is just too much fucking effort.
Meta’s AI is apparently powered by its own Llama models, because Zuckerberg is determined to make sure his llamas shit all over every product he owns. The bot shows up via prompts like @MetaAI, so you can summon it directly into conversations and watch it confidently hallucinate answers with corporate-approved enthusiasm.
Of course, this is a test, which in Meta-speak means “we’re unleashing it on a small group of unlucky users to see how badly it breaks shit before rolling it out to everyone.” There are also vague promises about transparency, sources, and not spreading total bullshit — which is adorable, considering Meta’s track record.
The real goal here? Engagement, data, and eventually ads. Lots of ads. Because nothing says “authentic conversation” like an AI buddy whispering brand-safe nonsense into your social feed while quietly vacuuming up your thoughts.
In short: Threads now has an AI sidekick that’s trying to be Grok without the Elon-flavored chaos. Whether this improves the platform or just adds another layer of algorithmic crap remains to be seen — but hey, at least Meta gets to scream “AI!” in earnings calls.
