Microsoft fixes BitLocker recovery issue only for Windows 11 users

Microsoft Finally Fixes BitLocker Hell… But Only If You’re on Windows 11 (Shocker)

Alright, listen up. Microsoft managed to screw the pooch yet again by pushing updates that dumped perfectly good machines straight into BitLocker recovery mode. You know, that fun little screen asking for a recovery key that nobody remembers because Microsoft told them it was “safe in the cloud.” Fucking brilliant.

So what’s the fix? Oh, Microsoft did fix it… but only for Windows 11 users. If you’re on Windows 11 22H2 or 23H2, congratulations, you get a shiny update that stops your PC from demanding BitLocker keys like a crack addict at an ATM.

Everyone else? Windows 10 users can go get fucked. No fix for you. Microsoft’s official stance is basically: “Yeah, we know it’s broken. Sit tight, don’t reboot, and maybe sacrifice a goat to Secure Boot.” Classic.

The issue was triggered by recent security updates that messed with boot components, causing BitLocker to lose its shit and assume the system was compromised. Instead of, you know, not doing that, Microsoft shipped it anyway and waited for admins to scream bloody murder.

Admins are now left explaining to users why their laptops are locked, why IT needs a recovery key, and why Microsoft QA apparently consists of a blindfold and a dartboard.

Moral of the story: if you’re on Windows 11, patch up and move on. If you’re on Windows 10, welcome to limbo. Don’t reboot. Don’t blink. And don’t expect Microsoft to give a shit until it’s inconvenient for them.

This reminds me of the time a CEO rebooted his laptop mid-board-meeting and demanded IT “just unlock it.” I handed him a printout explaining BitLocker and went for a coffee while he sweated. Good times.
