YouTube Slaps “AI-Generated” Stickers on Videos Because Of Course It Does

Alright, gather round, you beautiful idiots. YouTube has decided that the platform is now so full of AI-generated bullshit that it needs to start automatically labeling AI videos. Yes, the robot overlords are now tagging other robots, which is about as comforting as letting a fox run airport security.

According to TechCrunch, YouTube will use a mix of creator self-disclosure (ha!) and its own detection systems to slap a big “this was made by AI” label on videos. This includes stuff like AI-generated faces, voices, or anything that makes it look like a real human did something they absolutely fucking didn’t. Deepfakes, synthetic news anchors, magical AI nonsense — all getting the label of shame.

These labels will show up in the video description and sometimes right on the player itself, just in case you’re too dumb to read. YouTube swears this is all about “transparency,” not punishment. No automatic demonetization, no bans — just a polite little warning saying, “Hey, this video might be bullshit.” How reassuring.

Creators are supposed to disclose AI use themselves, but if they lie (shockingly), YouTube says it may step in. Will it work? Probably about as well as spam detection or copyright claims — meaning innocent people get screwed while the real assholes slip through like greased weasels.

This is also totally, definitely, absolutely not about elections, misinformation, or politicians being deepfaked into saying insane shit. Nope. Pure coincidence. Nothing to see here, move along, citizen.

In short: the internet is drowning in AI slop, YouTube noticed the smell, and now it’s putting little warning labels on the turds while still serving them hot and fresh. Progress!
