Windows Admin Center Virtualization Mode Preview: Yet Another Damn Update
Alright, listen up, meatbags. Microsoft has coughed up another update to the Windows Admin Center Virtualization Mode Preview, now waddling along at build 2.7.1.8. Yes, it’s still a preview, which means “don’t use this in production unless you enjoy screaming at 3 a.m.” This release is basically Microsoft admitting, yet again, that the last version was a bit shit and needed fixing.
So what’s new? Mostly the usual pile of bug fixes, stability tweaks, and performance polish that should’ve been right the first bloody time. Virtual machine management is a bit less janky, the UI hopefully crashes less often, and some of the more embarrassing glitches in Hyper-V handling have been kicked in the arse. Networking and storage integration? Still there, slightly less crap than before.
This “Virtualization Mode” is still Microsoft’s grand idea of managing VMs, hosts, and clusters from a shiny web interface instead of a forest of half-broken MMC consoles. When it works, it’s actually pretty nice. When it doesn’t, you’ll be questioning your career choices and Googling “how to become a goat farmer.”
Bottom line: if you’re testing Windows Admin Center virtualization features, this update is probably worth grabbing. If you’re expecting perfection, reliability, or anything that won’t occasionally screw you over for fun—ha! Fuck no. It’s a preview. Act accordingly.

Now if you’ll excuse me, this reminds me of the time I updated a “minor preview build” on a Friday afternoon and spent the entire weekend resurrecting VMs while management asked why the dashboard was on fire. Spoiler: it was always on fire.
