Microsoft Teams introduces centralized Recap app for meeting recordings and AI summaries

Microsoft Teams Gets a “Centralized Recap” App, Because Of Course It Fucking Does

Alright, gather round you poor bastards. Microsoft has decided that what Teams really needed was another app. This time it’s called the Recap app, and it’s a shiny new centralized dumping ground for meeting recordings, transcripts, AI-generated summaries, notes, and action items. Yes, all the crap you already couldn’t find is now in one place, allegedly to “improve productivity.” Sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night, Redmond.

The idea is simple: instead of hunting through chat threads, calendars, and SharePoint hellholes, you get a single view where all your Teams meetings and calls magically appear with their recordings and AI-written bullshit summaries. The AI will tell you what happened in the meeting you didn’t attend, didn’t listen to, and didn’t care about. Management loves this shit.

Of course, the really “clever” bits – like intelligent summaries, highlights, and action items – are locked behind Teams Premium. Because why give you useful features when Microsoft can squeeze a few more dollars out of your already-bleeding IT budget? No Premium license, no fancy AI brain. Enjoy scrubbing through a two-hour meeting recording like it’s 2009, asshole.

Access is still governed by the usual permissions circus, so don’t worry: users will still complain they “can’t see the recap” even though they weren’t invited to the meeting in the first place. Recordings live in OneDrive or SharePoint, compliance people can keep breathing into paper bags, and admins get yet another thing to explain with a straight face.

In short, Microsoft has built a centralized recap app to fix the mess created by the last ten “productivity improvements.” It might actually be useful, which means users will ignore it completely and keep emailing “Can someone send me the notes?” like brain-dead fucking zombies.

Now if you’ll excuse me, this reminds me of the time I built a perfectly documented wiki, announced it three times, and still got woken up at 3 a.m. because “no one knew where the documentation was.” Spoiler: it was exactly where I fucking said it was.
