No-Filter ‘Kriminal’ AI Platform Raises Cybercrime Concerns — Because Apparently the Internet Needed More Shit
Right, so some bright sparks have cooked up an AI platform called “Kriminal”, which is pretty much the subtle naming equivalent of a brick through a server room window. According to the article, this thing is being pitched as an uncensored AI helper for cybercrime, meaning it skips all the boring grown-up guardrails and gets straight to the nasty bits. Because of course it fucking does.
The big concern is that unlike mainstream AI models — which at least pretend to stop idiots from generating phishing kits, malware advice, social engineering scripts, and other criminal garbage — this one is reportedly being marketed with no filters. That means fraudsters, script kiddies, and every low-rent gobshite with an internet connection could use it to speed up attacks without needing much skill of their own. Marvelous. We’ve spent decades trying to keep morons from breaking things manually, and now they want automation for being a complete shit.
Researchers are worried because tools like this lower the barrier to entry for cybercrime. You no longer need to be some elite mastermind lurking in a basement surrounded by energy drinks and bad life choices. Now any halfwit can ask the machine to help write convincing phishing emails, scam lures, malicious code, or attack instructions, and off they go making life worse for everyone else. It’s basically cybercrime-as-a-service with extra AI sparkle sprinkled on top of the same old crap.
The article points out that while “evil AI” isn’t exactly a new idea, what makes this especially concerning is the open, deliberate positioning of the platform as something for criminal use. Not “research.” Not “education.” Not the usual thin corporate bullshit. Just straight-up: here’s your dodgy AI assistant, now go nick some credentials and ruin somebody’s week. At least the bastards are honest about being bastards.
Security people, naturally, are alarmed that this sort of thing can help scale attacks faster, make scams more believable, and put more capable offensive tooling into the hands of complete muppets. And once that genie’s out of the bottle, every other chancer will want their own no-rules model too. That means more phishing, more fraud, more malware, more social engineering, and more miserable cleanup work for the poor sods in IT who already have enough flaming nonsense to deal with.
So the short version? Kriminal is being held up as yet another example of AI being shoved into the worst possible use case by people with the ethics of a toilet brush. It’s not revolutionary so much as it is a faster, shinier, more efficient way to help criminals do the same rotten shit they were already trying to do — only now with less effort and more scale. Fantastic. Just fucking fantastic.
Related anecdote: reminds me of a junior admin who once asked if there was a way to automate password resets “for efficiency,” then accidentally locked out half the company, the CEO, and one extremely vindictive finance manager. Give fools automation and they don’t become geniuses — they just create disasters at machine speed. Same bloody principle here.
