Microsoft Finally Unfucks Teams and New Outlook on ARM PCs
So, in a shocking turn of events, Microsoft has apparently managed to fix a problem it bloody well caused in the first place. The issue hit Windows on ARM devices, where the new Outlook and Teams would fail to launch properly after installation. Because of course they did. You buy shiny modern hardware, install Microsoft’s flagship crap, and the software just sits there like a drunk intern on a Friday afternoon.
The problem was tied to AppX deployment and affected ARM-based Windows PCs. Users were left with busted installs of the new Outlook and Teams, which is exactly the sort of polished enterprise experience we’ve all come to expect from the clowns in Redmond. Nothing says “productivity” quite like mission-critical communication apps refusing to start because someone somewhere screwed up the packaging.
Microsoft has now rolled out a fix, allegedly resolving the issue. The company says affected users should reinstall the apps if they’re still broken, which is corporate-speak for: “Yeah, we cocked it up, now you clean up the mess.” Admins managing ARM fleets should verify that the corrected packages are being deployed and make sure users aren’t still stuck with the borked versions.
The article points out that this particularly mattered because ARM Windows devices are being pushed more heavily now, especially with all the usual marketing guff about efficiency, battery life, and next-generation computing bollocks. Bit hard to sell the future when your email client and meeting app keel over on launch, isn’t it?
In short: Microsoft broke Teams and new Outlook on ARM Windows PCs, then eventually patched the bloody issue. If you’re an admin, check your deployments, reinstall where needed, and prepare for the next completely avoidable shitshow. Because if there’s one thing Microsoft software teaches us, it’s that every fix is just the trailer for the next disaster.
Reminds me of the time a manager demanded to know why “nothing works on the new machines,” only to discover the vendor had shipped an update that turned half the office into expensive, glowing paperweights. I told him it was a pilot program for digital minimalism. He didn’t laugh. I did.
