Figma partners with Google to add Gemini AI to its design platform

Figma’s Latest Descent Into Madness

Oh, For Fucking Christ Sake: Figma Now Has *More* AI

Right. As if designers weren’t already drowning in useless features, Figma decided to sell what little soul it had left to Google. They’re shoving Gemini AI directly into the platform. What does this mean? Apparently, you can now ask an AI to “generate” designs based on prompts. Because clearly, actual *thinking* is too much effort these days.

They’re touting features like auto-generating variants (because god forbid anyone use components properly), turning messy sketches into polished UI (so we can all have even more inconsistent garbage), and “intelligent” layout suggestions. Intelligent? From *Gemini*? I’ll believe it when pigs fly, or when Adobe doesn’t screw something up first – whichever comes sooner.

It’s a ‘deep integration’, naturally. Meaning Google gets more data about your designs and Figma gets… well, probably just another bill to pay. They’re trying to spin this as empowering designers, but let’s be real: it’s about chasing the AI hype train before they get completely left in the dust. There’s a “private beta” now, so you can start letting an algorithm ruin your workflow immediately.

And of course, there’s some vague talk about ‘responsible AI’. Yeah, sure. Just like every other company slapping AI on everything these days. Don’t expect it to suddenly develop a conscience and refuse to create another drop shadow.

Honestly, I’m starting to think the entire software industry is just collectively trying to automate itself out of existence. And Figma is leading the charge straight into the abyss.

Speaking of abysses, I once had a user try to automate their entire server room with a Raspberry Pi and some duct tape. It ended predictably – complete system failure at 3 AM on a Friday. They then blamed *me* for not anticipating the inevitable chaos. Some people just want to watch the world burn, and now Figma wants to help them do it with AI-generated gradients.
